Welcome to the
Larkin dietetic internship blog
ABOUT us

Welcome to our blog! We are the dietetic interns at Larkin Community Hospital DI. This blog is to share our journey with you. LCH internship is an 8-month or 1,200 hours dietetic internship with a strong clinical concentration. However, due to COVID-19, all the interns graduating in 2021 will only complete 1000 hours. Our internship is located at the main teaching hospital location of the bustling multi-cultural city of South Miami. Interns complete rotations in various locations across South Florida including Nicklaus Children's Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Larkin offers two internship tracks; the long distance internship is to be completed anywhere is the USA that is at least 100 miles from Miami, and the on-site local internship in Miami.

Everyday I am excited to be part of this internship. Even with having our community rotation virtually due to
Covid-19, I am amazed on how much we've done in only 5 weeks. The director and interns are incredibly supportive, I am extremely grateful to share this experience with them.

Our Community rotation has been a unique experience due to Covid-19. Interactions may be virtual, but incredibly rewarding nonetheless, and full of learning opportunities. I am grateful for the amazing interns I get to work with everyday and for the amazing preceptor who has made sure we have the tools we need to thrive in this rotation

The best and most optimal way to learn is to actually perform the nutrition assessments and see the patients yourself. This rotation has provided me with an experience that allows me to get out of my comfort zone so I can grow as a dietetic intern.
